Renault is attempting to expand its electric vehicle (EV) market in China to acquire new technology and learn how to produce EVs more quickly, Bloomberg reported. The company has reportedly hired around 200 people in Shanghai, primarily hardware engineers, to develop an electric version of the Twingo priced under EUR20,000. It is also said that the company plans to hire software engineers.

Renault has not yet started sales in China. Francois Provost, the company's chief procurement, partnerships, and public affairs officer, said that the company aims to learn in China and integrate this knowledge into the French team, but he declined to elaborate further on the recruitment plans in China.
